Climate Action

RACPA is a five-year initiative exploring the climate change and human (im)mobility nexus, aiming to shape inclusive policies that strengthen climate resilience.

95% of displacement in the Asia Pacific region was caused by weather-related hazards. Relative sea level rise in the region is already twice higher than the global average, intense heat waves and extreme storm events more severe.

RESEARCH FRAMEWORK

While much of the existing research on human (im)mobility decisions focuses on economic drivers, such as material assets and livelihoods, non-economic factors like cultural ties, emotional connections to place, and local knowledge remain significantly underexplored.

This research brings different concepts to addresse that gap. In order to understand the adaptive responses of communities facing high risk of climate-induced displacement, this study adopts an integrated framework that brings together economic, affective, cultural, local knowledge, attitudes and practices, and policy dimensions, offering a more holistic and evidence-based understanding of human (im)mobility in climate-vulnerable contexts.
