Footprints of Courage: The Journey of JRS Cambodia — stories of resilience, Sister Denise Coghlan’s legacy, and JRS’s mission of accompanying refugees.
I am grateful to the entire JRS family in the region who work so that forcibly displaced may feel respected, listened to, and accompanied on their life journey.
The work of the JRS is an integral part of our mission to truly accompany and advocate for people’s rights and dignity, and to do so with dedication and devotion. We need to examine how we can impact the lives of refugees by becoming a part of their lives and have a mutually enriching relationship with each other.
May we have a blessed Christmas and become a more caring world in 2024!
With refugees showing us the way, we can do more to build a better society.
We continue to work and dream of a time when our laughter at babies struggling to crawl would mean pure delight at their growing strength moving onwards to this hope-filled future.
Forced displacement in Myanmar and Afghanistan gripped our hearts in 2021. At the end of the year, there were more than 1M displacements from each country. Most remained internally displaced while thousands of refugees fled to border countries in the region. More than half of the displaced are women and children. Their grief and aspirations guided our response. Our emergency service quadrupled.
We invite all of you to continue journeying with us in our mission with the forcibly displaced people. May you be blessed in all that you do this year.
