Governance
The Jesuit Refugee Service is a ministry of the Society of Jesus under the direct responsibility of the Superior General, Rev. Arturo Sosa Abascal SJ. JRS International Director, Rev. Thomas H. Smolich SJ, is Father General’s delegate for the Society’s work with refugees, and reports directly to him.
In the region, the Advisory Council supports the Regional Director in his leadership and oversight of JRS in Asia Pacific.
The Regional Director and the Country Directors meet once a year to discuss JRS operations and issues of global concern.

Fr. Aristotle (Ari) Dy, SJ
President of Xavier School, a prominent basic education school catering to the Chinese Filipino community in Metro Manila. Ari has a Masters in Buddhist Studies from the University of Hong Kong, and a PhD in Study of Religions for his dissertation on Chinese Buddhism in the Philippines by SOAS, University of London in 2013.
Fr. Adrianus (Yadi) Suyadi, SJ
JCAP Secretary for Social Ministries. Fr. Yadi was former JRS Indonesia CD and then Executive Director of Caritas Indonesia. He completed his MA in Development Management at the Asian Institute of Management (AIM) in Manila.
Wilhelmina (Wendy) Clavano, PhD
Trained as a scientist with a PhD from Cornell University, Wendy has returned to Mindanao in the Philippines to help run the family businesses. She used to be a Jesuit volunteer and values the work of JRS especially in places where no one else will go.
