Celebrating the World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2025: Strengthening Catholic Collaboration and Sharing Hope Across Asia Pacific

13 December 2025

Bangkok, 5 October 2025 — In commemoration of the World Day of Migrants and Refugees (WDMR) 2025, Catholic organizations across Asia Pacific came together in a spirit of unity and shared mission to accompany, serve, and advocate for refugees, migrants, and displaced persons. This year’s celebration carried the theme “Migrants, Missionaries of Hope,” echoing Pope Francis’s call to recognize migrants as bearers of faith, courage, and renewal in our world.

The event was co-organized by the National Catholic Commission on Migration (NCCM), COERR, Stella Maris Thailand, Caritas Thailand, Caritas Bangkok, Caritas Asia, Talitha Kum, and the Jesuit Refugee Service (JRS).

“My Dream Life” — A Refugee Children’s Art Exhibition

As part of the celebration, JRS Asia Pacific presented a special art exhibition featuring paintings by refugee and internally displaced children from across the region. Centered on the theme “My Dream Life,” each artwork offered a glimpse into the children’s dreams for peace, education, safety, and a better future. Their creative expressions served as a reminder that hope endures even amid displacement and uncertainty.

Expressions of Care and Togetherness

Throughout the day, the spirit of joy and community filled the gathering. Refugee friends from the Urban Education Project of JRS Thailand shared henna painting, nail art, and hair braiding with participants — simple yet profound gestures of connection and care that reflected the dignity and creativity of refugee communities. The event concluded with a joyful performance by refugee children, whose dance symbolized unity, resilience, and the enduring light of hope that continues to carry communities forward.
